Monthly Preschool Curriculum

Free Preschool Curriculum and Daily Preschool Lesson Plans

Each month introduces new preschool concepts, letters of the month, shape of the month, colors of the month, number of the month, preschool worksheets, art activities, songs, movement games, and easy cooking projects.

The monthly lesson plans are provided on a month-to-month basis and will be made available shortly before the start of each month.

2010-2011

Welcome to the New School Year! The 2010-2011 Year at a Glance calendar is available below.

For the 2010-2011 school year, there will many new themes incorporated as well as many famililar themes used in the past year.

Maybe 50% of the material is the same as last year, while 50% of the activities, songs, games, worksheets, themes are new.

The letters/numbers/colors/shapes are the same for each month, though the worksheets for these concepts are also 50% new and different.

Key components of the PreschoolPalace.org curriculum:

* Loosely based on "Letter of the Week" concept. This concept introduces and reinforces 1 letter per week for the school year. Similarly, 1 number, 1 or 2 colors, and 1 shape will also be introduced and reinforced each month. While the curriculum formally introduces certain letters/numbers at certain times it does not mean that these letters/numbers are not taught through out the year through various other formal and informal methods suggested in this curriculum and provided as part of your normal activities through out each day.

* Daily activities may include:

Weather, calendar, story, letter/number/shape/or color, song, circle time game,

table time activity, movement activity, craft activity, sensory table activity, and printable worksheet.

* Weekly cooking activities.

September: 10 Apples on Top (Dr. Seuss)

October: The Very Busy Spider (Eric Carle)

November: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See (Eric Carle)

December: Draw Me a Star (Eric Carle)

January: It Looked Like Spilt Milk (Charles Shaw)

February: Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus (Mo Willems)

March: Rainbow Fish (Marcus Pfister)

April: Mouse Paint (Ellen Stoll Walsh)

May: Put Me in the Zoo (Robert Lopshire)

June: Blueberries for Sal (Robert McCloskey)

The books on the list will have accompanying songs/games/activities/crafts and are strongly suggested.

Try Ebay/Amazon/garage sales for used books and of course your local library.

Other books will be recommended each month to complement the month's themes but may not necessarily be incorporated in the day's activities.

Recommended Yearly Materials List:

Standard materials: paper in all colors, paint, markers, watercolors, crayons, safety scissors, glue (Tacky Glue brand), paste, glitter, glitter glue.

Be on the lookout and save for activities through out the year: Magazines and Sunday newspaper advertisements (with people, children, food, toys, places, animals, sports, colors, shapes, numbers, letters); old calendars for their pictures, egg cartons (5), empty water bottles (50).
